Schulze (L.) Grocery. A Circus parade on E. Bremer between 2nd and 3rd Sts. The brick building on the left is the Phoenix block which was built in 1884 after a fire destroyed the frame buildings on the west half of the block. The building just past the trees was the Iowa Creamery Supply building with the newspaper offices on the second floor. It was built in 1890. The frame buildings to the east of that would not be there in a picture taken after 1904 when the CGW depot was built. the cupola in the distance is the courthouse. Most likely the photo is late 1890s as the street is brick, or early 1900s.
NOTE: This is the parade for a circus (The Great Wallace Shows) that came to Waverly 15 Jun 1898 with "droves of camels" and a "herd of elephants."
