The Independent Republican on 16 Mar 1929 reported that Waverly Knights Templar observed Ascension Day on Sunday with an afternoon service at the Methodist Episcopal church. Visiting knights from Cedar Falls, Oelwein and Charles City participated in a parade headed by the Waverly Community band. Over 100 knights in full uniform made "an imposing procession."
