WORKING WITH COLLECTIONS

1. Film Negative Organization (individual negatives or strips)

  • Full Service: : $100 for each batch of 200 negatives/strips; 30 pages of 20 slides; 30 pages of 120 mm negatives, archival sleeves included.

  • DIY: $0 for instructions for buying negative sleeves
     

2. Photo and negative digitization + documentation

  • Full Service: $1,745 for each batch of 500 photos* scanned at high resolution (1300 ppi), full documentation 

  • DIY: Minimal training and support:  $0-$1000

    • Training materials : Fortepan IA Handbook and online video series: Scanning Protocol): $0
    • Setting up scanning and digitization station: $500
    • In person training (scanning protocol, DSR digitization, documentation): $500
       

3. Uploading

  • Full Service: $1,265 for each batch of 500 photos uploaded

  • DIY: administrative support: $0-$1000

    • In person training (curation, admin support): $500
    • One-time Fortepan IA platform sustainability and upgrades ($200), UNI hosting services ($100) and project management ($200): $500
       

COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

1. Power Up Fortepan IA

  • Learn to search the platform more effectively, share meaningful photos, and create a customized “FotoAlbum.” 

  • $450 for three 1-hour sessions, not including travel

    • Session 1: Introduction to Fortepan IA
    • Session 2: How to “deep explore” the photo history platform
    • Session 3: Ideas and examples for community engagement with historical photos

2. Digital Storytelling with Historical photos 

  • Learn to use our built-in digital FotoStory tool to create and share beautiful digital stories 

  • $800 for four 1.5-hour sessions, not including travel

    • Session 1: scanning family photos
    • Session 2: Learning the Fortepan IA interface and creating a FotoAlbum
    • Session 3: Learning the FotoStory tool; Building a FotoStory
    • Session 4: Editing and perfecting FotoStory

3. Creative Reuse with Fortepan IA Images

  • Create art and learn to use high resolution historical photographs in fun, creative, and inspiring ways

  • $800 for four 1.5-hour sessions not including travel

    • Session 1: Introduction to Gimp and Photo Colorization
    • Session 2: Photo Collage
    • Session 3: Animation
    • Session 4: Wheat pasting
       

4. Historical Photo Geolocation

  • Participate in a fun geolocation activity that connects you to places you know and love

  • $600 for three 1-hour sessions, not including travel

    • Session 1: preparing historical photos for geolocation
    • Session 2: geolocating photographs on site with 360º cameras (up to 4 provided)
    • Session 3: photomatching historical photos against modern day 360º background

5. Creative Storytelling with People Aging with Dementia

  • Learn to use meaningful historical photos as prompts for creative memory care 

  • $225 for each 1-hr session, not including travel

    Trained in Creative Care practices, our team brings Fortepan IA historical photos to memory care facilities. During a Creative Storytelling "Engagement Party," a team of two works with 12 or less participants (people aging with dementia and their loved ones) to stimulate magical thinking and creative storytelling.
