Partner with Fortepan US

Fortepan US brings fresh ideas to community archiving and sets cultural heritage institutions up to rethink what is possible in digital archiving platforms. We are excited to see what is possible in archiving digital local history regarding state archive collaboration, virtual reunification, shared collections, and enhanced user engagement.

Through our Fortepan IA prototype, we have developed more than 50 partnerships with public libraries, museums, cultural heritage institutions, and local newspapers across Iowa. Our partnership with the Connecticut Digital Archive (CTDA), based at the University of Connecticut, has yielded Fortepan CT and infrastructure development towards a federated portal network that can serve every state, national park, and Indigenous territory.

3 ways to partner

  1. Embed a selection of Fortepan images into your existing website. It’s as simple and immediate as embedding a YouTube video or Google Map.
  2. See our prototype, Fortepan IA. Work with us to start a new hub (we have ready-to-go instances for the following states, and it's easy to set up more). Here is our Partner Kit. We are happy to grant-write together to help fund expansion to the Fortepan network.
  3. Download our platform code from our GitHub repository and deploy it for your own purposes.
