The Burlington Route's Pioneer Zephyr made a record-time run from Denver to Chicago, passing through Ottumwa on its trip east. The next day, the train made a more leisurely journey back to Denver. This photo was taken the day after the record run - 1,000 miles non-stop, in just over 13 hours.
