Charles Guter was born in Minneapolis, MN, in 1890. He was hired by the U.S. Postal Service in Collegeville, MN, in 1913. In 1915, he was transferred to Waverly, and became a rural mail carrier. In 1969, he died in Waverly. Source: Bremer County Independent, June 30, 1969 (found in findagrave.com).
Sign says, "A Chain of Stores from Coast to Coast, World Tire Stores & Co., proprietors." An ad in the window says, "Sale today, Dunbar [tires] 30 X 3 1/2, $9.87."
"The World Tire Store on the south side of East Bremer Avenue between 3rd and 4th Streets. The building was later Brayton's. It was torn down about 1981 when 1st National razed the building on the block to build their new bank. L-R: J. C. Guter, John G. Laube. Mr. Guter was a rural mail carrier and Mr. Laube was in the construction business in Waverly." Source: Waverly Public Library
