Circus parade on E. Bremer and 1st St.
John Robinson's "Ten Big Shows" came to Waverly on Thursday, 23 Jun 1910. Features included 6 aerial thrillers, 50 cowboys and 20 cowgirls, a free street parade with 10 tableau wagons, 2 herds of performing elephants, horseback-riding sea lions, 4 ring circus, and Warren Travis (Champion Heavy Weight Lifter) "holding 12 men on a platform on his chest and allowing two big Maxwell automobiles to run over his body." Newspapers reported that the city merchants had received contracts for nearly $3,000 to feed the circus performers and animals, including the purchase of 1,000 lbs of coffee, 3 carcasses of beef as well as 800 lbs of animal meat, several hundred loaves of bread, 75 quarts of milk and 8 tons of hay.
