Between the depression and then the was years there was a shortage of money and/or housing. Ernest Aschbrenner solved his problem by a buying a railroad car. Here the car is moving from the Illinois Central depot on West Bremer and along E. Bremer to a lot at 120 SE 9th Ave. [just west of the upper parking lot for Bantam.] The Lashbrook building still sported its cornice, Stop and Save grocery. Aschbrenner converted the car into a home. It was razed in May 2000. Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 89C0238
