The Waverly Bowl-Inn located on 4th St. SW at 7th Ave was originally much narrower. In 1999 a flood destroyed the floor and it had to be replaced. The water came in at about 2am on July 22; Thanks to a relatively smooth recovery with a lot of help; bowlers were coming in the door by mid October.
The bowler is Steve Brinkman whose mother and father, Harvey and Irene Brinkman, watch. Their family bought the bowling alley from Mike Leonard about 1972. During that time there were 2 leagues bowling 5 nights a week according to Steve. Brinkmans sold the business to Joe Bush.
