Approaching from the north the old Stockwell bridge can be seen on the right. Motorists approaching that bridge from the south had to come down a slope and make a curve as they entered the bridge. This photo was taken during the construction of the new bridge on NW 1st St. The 492 ft. bridge was replaced with one of 503 ft. It was estimated that it would take 10 days to remove the old bridge. The steel abutments were already in place. The railroad bridge remained in place until the run to Sumner closed.
