For years the empty lots were on big hole in the ground.
Eye-sore going--Over 750 truckloads of dirt fill were dumped and spread in the long vacant excavation at the corner of West Bremer and Second street. The lot was filled after being declared a health hazard by the city. The lot had been a hole in the ground since 1933 when the Coddington & Laird building burned down. BI; 18 June 1958. see also 91N0494. When the current building on the property was built in 1969 it was commonly know as the "120 building." It, along a few parking spaces on 2nd St. NW, covers the entire area from Bremer Ave. back to the alley. It is, however, broken up into offices within.
