Amelia Earhart, with actress and Ottumwa native Karen Morley, when both were visiting Ottumwa in 1936. Morley, who appeared in such films as Scarface and The Mask of Fu Manchu, had just signed a contract with Major Pictures, a movie company in which Amelia Earhart's husband, G.P. Putnam, was deply involved. Morley was later backlisted during the McCarthy era, and died in 2003 at age 93.
