This unusual home was built in 1978 [completed in1979] by Vern Schield to resemble windmills he had seen in Greece. The Schields rented it out and never lived in it. It is located on highway 3 East on the south side of the road near the "Sleeping Giant". The roof was built so it could rotate to meet the wind. The shafts' sails were cloth, A 3 room apartment provided an unusual home. Nearby Mr. Schield also placed the "Sleeping Giant" part of the power system that ran the Sugar Beet factory that once stood in NW Waverly.
