Waverly Newspaper. The base of the 788th Radar Squadron as it looked in its prime. The base was located just south of Waverly and just to the west of 218S. Rada Manufacturing is now located there. When the base closed, the Air Force had a hard time finding a buyer. They attempted to sell it to the county for a park. With no lake or woods, the county declined. The houses (just off view to the left), were eventually used as naval housing. The base itself has been used as an industrial area. Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 89N0068.
