Waverly Newspaper. Looking from the SW from over what is now the First Home addition. The canning factory is at lower left, just east of the railroad tracks. The St. Joseph Mercy Hospital is just to the right of the canning factory. The ovoid swimming pool, racetrack, and floral hall can be seen at the fairgrounds. Two stone quarries are visible in the upper left along the river. Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 89N0077.

Must be pre 1952 as I don’t see the Washington Irving elementary school.

The land around the new high school (west of the railroad tracks) has not been developed yet. so late 40s or sometime in the 50s possibly. The golf course layout with sand traps are clearly outlined. Interesting photo.
Bob Welcher
Bremer Ave quite pronounced.
Les Schaefer notice the rr bridge in upper left. where the Butzlaff house is/was. also before the Murphy home addition.
Bob Welcher, Les Schaefer …my father-in-law (Larry Butzlaff) built their house along the river in 1959-60. Thanks for remembering.

Bob Welcher my Dad, Whitey, considered buying it back when it was available. was a great house/location.
