looking northeast from 3rd St. and W. Bremer. Fareway moved into their new building in 1972. Before that, they had been located on E. Bremer in what is now Keller's. Everything on this block was cleared or moved with the exception of the gas station on the southeast corner of the block. Between the 1970s and 1993, no major changes occurred in the building. One house on the lot just north of the alley on the west end was left standing for a time. The elderly resident wanted to remain in the home as long as possible.
At far right a portion of Bolton's Apco is visible. That station opened in January 1983. Original donor of the photo was the Waverly Chamber of Commerce, Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No 93C0162
