Waverly Newspaper, Bremer County Independent; 9 July 1987 The Rock Island depot at Shell Rock falls to the blows by the demolition crews. The rail line was then the Iowa Northern, owned and operated by elevators along the route from Manly to Cedar Rapids, including Shell Rock. The 2nd story was designed as living quarters for the for the agent.
