Hakenwerd D-X gas and service station held their grand opening in March 1953. During the 1950s it was known as: Brinkman's. For a time in the 1960s. It was run by Darreill and Earl Sells.
The A & P grocery store to the left facing W. Bremer was located there from January 1949 until December 1956. Bill Liston who had managed the store on the east side, was the manager of the all new an modern store.
The building on the right was Whitney-Juhl Tractor Co. 107 4th St. SW
