Bremer County Independent, December 1, 1969 and Waverly Democrat 4 December 1969. [Wally] Zahn's Paint moved into this building in 1955, from across Bremer Avenue E. The fire began upstairs in one of the apartment. The .was determined to have started upstairs by 2 young boys playing with matches. Everything in their family's apartment was lost. Several different levels of ceiling made it difficult for the fireman to gain control. In the paint store the loss was primarily water damage. To the west in the Waverly Dress Club a rack of freshly dry cleaned clothing was quickly removed and taken down the block by some of the onlookers. Infelt's variety store on the right had little damage and opened on Monday.
