It indicates that it was a reunion. This photo was originally given to the paper by W.H. Kahn. The message is as follows [question marks right after a word means they're uncertain, (?) means a whole word that wasn't legible: I believe you got a glimpse of this "handeonie"? bunch of our class (?) the day you left. I'll lend you this, too (though I've hafe? a dogen? left). When you return it, I'll return yours. So that's fair. You are sure a "winning" fair in that (?). Someone will get killed when (?, initials: _.g.) sees it, (?) I'll promise it you'd be you. I'll tell him I told you he asked if you'd (?) we are, (?) .... [this continues and isn't too legible].
