Note: A description of the huge candles that decorate this arch was found in the 19 Nov 1941 edition of the Bremer County Independent. The candles were made of cello-glass lighted from the inside with bulbs; they were 16 feet tall with 30 inch flames. Ten 15-foot "bushy and fat" Christmas trees were added to the bridge railings.
