Crew with lumber wagon in front of a lumber yard during the building of Readlyn. The town grew from local farmers' need of a closer railroad stop to market their products. As a sign of gratitude to the the railroad the town was named for Mr. Read, a railroad official. From the open prairie look the photo was taken during the building of the town of Readlyn. Many lots were sold in a relatively short time. Sign on top of the building says ". . . Lumber Co.
