This picture was made from a stereoscope slide. Notation on back said, "J.F. Brown residence, Waverly, Iowa." It was part of an "Iowa Series." At the time of the donation another copy was also received of a print of the Opera House. Also one of E. Bremer. If they were all taken at the same time, this one of the home may date around 1881.
J.F. Brown died in Waverly in Jun 1882 after a long illness. He came here about 1861 and was a merchant of hardware, groceries, dry goods, shoes and boots, etc. His wife, Elizabeth, died at their home on the block east of the old junior high building in NW Waverly in 1888. The Browns had one son Charles who may also be pictured in the photo. J.F. and Elizabeth and Charles and his wife Lilla are all buried in Harlington.
