The lot shown under demolition had an old frame building on it which was dismantled when Gade's decided to add a carpet section to the east side their store on W. Bremer at 2nd St. South. It isn't possible describe the building but it had to have been 2 stories. That can be verified by a sign for a dressmaker that read, "Lena Wendt Upstairs." Jerry Illian had his office for Life Investors there in 1967. Esther Kohagen managed a "U B the Artist" shop for a number years in the 1930s. It was also known aa Leone's Beauty Shop for many years. Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 01N0037 (incorrectly labeled as 01N0039)
