As a couple Walter "Wally" Zahn and his wife Beverly owned and operated Zahn's Paint store. First located in one of the fronts to the east of the Fortner Hotel, they were forced to move when the hotel was razed in 1955. That was the year they moved to 205 E. Bremer the same place from which Zahn's closed the business in 1982. Between 1937 and 1982 Zahn's painted and papered a lot of Waverly's buildings.
