The jet arrived in Waverly in October 1963, after a 2 day trip from Wisconsin via rural roads, and was placed in Memorial Park as a tribute to servicemen. It remained there until May of 1976 when it was hauled away to the scrap yard.
Here in 1972 the Waverly Jaycees were helping move the jet as part of a Fairground improvement project. Planned improvements included expansion of the swimming pool and a parking area near the softball diamonds.
