The Waverly Condensing plant has a past that goes back to 1898 when Wisconsin Condensed Milk agreed that Waverly was a promising site for a factory. By March of 1899 deliveries of milk were arriving at the Waverly Condensed Milk plant. In 1904 Frye's Caramels approached the company about operating the 2 businesses from the same plant. The deal was made with Waverly citizens becoming share holders. Within about 8 months Frye's was in debt and the shareholders were not very happy. The Frye's manager tried to work a deal, but in the end the stockholders saw to it that he was gone. For a time in1905 the plant was only making butter. By Feb. 1906 the plant was again in full operation under the ownership of Northern Condensed Milk Co. They sold it to Mohawk Condensed Milk Co. Almost all the equipment was sold off in 1923 and Carnation bought the property. The old frame building was torn down in 1930. Location: site of Carnation south plant looking south. CGW bridge in background.
