This is Charles City's Main Street. It is known for its limestone architecture featured in many buildings. In 1968, a tragedy struck the town when Charles City was devastated by an EF5 tornado, destroying hundreds of homes and businesses. It is now a vibrant district recognized for historic preservation, public art, and the Cedar River.
