Hall Candy Co. of Ottumwa on 3rd and Market Streets. It began business in 1880 and specialized in hand-dipped chocolates. Hall's was the only candy factory in the U.S. to survive the Great Depression. During the Depression era, they distributed candy to Ottumwans at Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter to help lift the spirits of residents. It closed in 1954, just a few months shy of 75 years in business. There's a tall chimney.
