4/1/1917. The view and its companion 91L0011 show the enlistees for World War 1 marching to the depot. In this view local citizen show their support by either marching along behind or watching from the sidewalks. location: East Bremer between 2nd and 4th looking northeast. The cupola of the courthouse is seen behind the CGW depot which then had a roof larger than today. the tree at the left was destroyed when Penney's built on the site in 1930. It was then one of the few remaining trees that had been part of the forest that covered the east side of the river when the town was platted.
