The big rock was located on a farm south of Waverly near Lime rock Hill ( the farm was later owned by T. Peck). The foundation for the Catholic in SE Waverly was cut from this rock. Why the men are standing on it with axes is unknown. Perhaps they were to cut the saplings around it.
