Kelley Canning Co.
H.B. Kelley and other investors bought the Waverly Canning Factory in February 1899 and began making improvements in preparation for canning 1,500,000 cans of sweet corn. Contracts were let paying $4.00 per ton for corn to be delivered by farmers to the plant. Seed would be furnished by the company at $2.00 per bushel. Mr. Kelley moved his family to Waverly from Vinton in April 1899 to become superintendent of the factory. H.B. Kelley died in Waverly in 1903.
