The American Legion Post 176 purchased the former Shopping News/Stevenson Office Supplies building from Fenner Stevenson in the fall of 1982. The Post members remodled the building located at 208 8th Ave. SW faced Harlington cemetery. Two men talking in lower center are believed to be Ray Ragsdale on left and Elden Kueker at right. The Waverly veterans organizations decided to merge following the flood of 2008 and began looking for a new home. The proper chosen was 1300 4th St. NW. The building partially visible to the left was once the Lavell Photo studio on SE 1st St. and was moved to this site and converted to apartments
