Bremer avenue from the east end of the bridge. This view is a close-up of the southside of the street seen in 91F0007. The building with the cupola is the 1st Nat'l Bank. The brick building to its right appears to be boarded up. Note the crates stacked in the street. That would make it John Niix's drug store under reconstruction in 1907. Across the street from the bank is the limestone structure known as the Old Stone Corner. It was the oldest non-frame building in Waverly. John A. Nix was born in Germany. He moved to Waverly and opened his drug store in 1905. He was rebuilding the front in 1907; whether he did more wasn’t mentioned. We do know that he also practiced optometry. In 1912 he gave up his pharmacy role and focused on his work as an optometrist.
