Waverly Newspaper. The steeple of the Evangelical and Reformed Church SW of Sumner sustained fire damage as a result of a lightning strike. The pastor and local farmers had the fire under control before serious damage resulted. The church itself was not damaged. Sumner Gazette; 3 May 1951 p1.
