Waverly had a boating club in the 1940s, but speed boat racing ceased during WW II. Pleasure boating did, however, continue. The even granted the club permission to build a boat house and dock just south of the Chicago Great Western bridge on the east side. Racing boat, railroad bridge, water tower, sugar beet chimney, and brewery in background. Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 89B0158
