City Park (and cannon) in courthouse square in Waverly, IA. Back of postcard is addressed to "Mrs L. H. Sewell, Heighland, Calif." The rest reads: "Hear children - Just - a word so you know we think of you. All well here but much company + busy. Uncle C_p is here. Mildred, John + Sonee friend were here Sunday. Cora Tyler was buried in Horton Sunday. Uncle George is very poorly his wife in Fair Carol-week. -- Muelie." Based on date of funeral mentioned the card was mailed in 1921 and the deceased was wife of George Tyler. The date of the picture taken on the courthouse lawn is unknown although another photo taken in 1910 shows the tree to left of the cannon to be smaller. It is a guess, but it's probable the photo dates about 1913/14. However, this particular card was mailed in 1921.
Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 12A0049
