Kentucky Fried Chicken was remodeled from a former Standard gas station. Looking south across W. Bremer as it looked in December 1972 when the restaurant opened. Taco John's replaced it in 1996, and it remains there as of 2025. The big brick house behind the restaurant was known as the Ellis house.
