Looking southeast from W. Bremer at about 7th St. Kentucky Fried Chicken remodeled a gas station building and then opened in December 1972. It later razed the building and put up a new structure. The restaurant went out of business in April 1996. Taco John's took over the building. The popcorn stand was for many years run by Otto Hartman who lived next door to the west. The two house at left were eventually torn down to allow for a parking lot. The brick house in the background was long known as the Ellis house. When built in 1873 the Ellis property occupied the block.
