Although a few notations give an earlier date, A photo taken of the demolition appeared in the Waverly Democrat of 18 April 1991p9, Looking ENE. The article: "One of Waverly's oldest residences was razed this week at the corner of Second Street and First Avenue, NE. The two story home with a one-story section on the south side, was constructed of locally kilned brick. Its age and lack of restorative maintenance in recent years resulted in it being in a deteriorating condition when the property was acquired by Gary Schneider. His plans are to clear the property, then move the top half of an apartment unit from the corner lot a block west. That area is being cleared for the new City Hall/Community Building. Happel Excavating was levelling the old building when this photo was taken."
