" East bank Cedar River. Frame building with belfry was first fire station with tall mill across the street to the left. The light plant was built following the explosion of the dynamo in late Sept. 1908. The new city light plant is at the east end of the wooden dam and looks much as it does in 2025. The photo date is a guess based on the time needed to rebuild. Temporary power was provided by a borrowed engine. The glass plate negative was found in a box of negative."
