4/1/1917. The men are marching to the IC depot on West Bremer to leave for enlistment in World War 1. The view was taken from the balcony of the Fortner Hotel on E. Bremer and 2nd St. looking northeast. The frame buildings at the left were replaced in 1930 by the J. C Penney building [Later Sears). Still quite a few old frame stores on the north side, and the spire on the old courthouse is seen above it all. The WCF&N tracks were recently installed on Bremer Ave.
Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 91L0011
