Montgomery Wards, the first in Waverly, was a catalog store previously located on West Bremer Ave. and under the management of Mrs. Mike Austvold. In 1972 the business was sold to Bill and Joyce Schult and opened on the east side at 89 E. Bremer. Mrs, Austvold managed the business until 1979. The store opened under new management. Other names connected to Wards at #99 E. Bremer Ave. and later at 113 1st St. NE were June Brom, Deb Peck and Ruth Rodenbeck. This photo was taken around 1978/79 after a facelift to the very upper structure of the building next was redone in 1978 to bring it sync with others on the block
