Waverly celebrated the centennial during the summer of 1956. T he event was actually a celebration of 100 years of the newspaper which was 7 March 1856, but March was deemed ideal for a big town celebration. Most people now think of it the city, but that would be 1859 for the incorporation date.
These pictures were in an album found in the newspaper office. The photographer in unknown, but the pictures were in an album which included photos of Maxfield's Lounge and cafe. 1892 Froelich steam engine.
