Buildings - Brick/Stone; Century Companies of America; Insurance Companies. This building was known for many years as the Mutual Aid Building (early name for Century Cos.). It was also an office for a loan company, the state liquor store and the newspaper. was for years located on the first floor. Dr. E. H. Kromer had his dental offices upstairs. The local joke was that one could stop on the first floor for an anesthetic before going upstairs to have a tooth pulled. It was demolished in 1963 to make room for the State Bank to its south.
