Waverly Newspaper. Cleveland and Herman's store was built in 1910 for Wile and Maaser Furniture. They also operated a funeral business from there. An elevator was installed to provide access to the second floor for caskets and any other heavy items. A fire damaged the property in the early 1920s. Geo Kaiser bought the store soon after the fire and ran a furniture business there until the depression made it necessary to move to smaller quarters. The funeral business was separated and moved to the present quarters of Kaiser-Corson, the descendant of that business. T.H. McDaniel built the abstract office for his business. The building has always been an abstract office. Additional photographs and resources can be found at the Waverly Public Library on the local and family history page http://www.waverlyia.com/public-library/research/local-and-family-history-collection.aspx Accession No. 91N0175.
