The bakery was already in operation in this block and Berta's Cafe was just about to open. The Wollenzien family moved their Waverly Home bakery to this location in the 1960s where they served Waverly patrons until 2014.
Berta's Coffee Den opened at 112 E. Bremer in 1965. Iowa Public Service office moved into 119 E. Bremer in 1959 with Don Eck as the manager of Waverly and a number of the surrounding small towns.
